Sometimes it seems like staying secure online is a full-time job, but 2FA has become much easier over the years. Then you will be asked to enter the six-digit code for your account from the authentication app on your phone. Enter your username and password first and click Log In. Log into Facebook Using 2FAĪfter 2FA is enabled, the next time you log out of your account you’ll need to log in again. It’s also worth noting that you can always set up SMS and/or print out recovery codes later at a more convenient time, too. Just make sure the recovery codes are kept in an ultra-secure location that only you know about. And printing out the recovery codes - it never hurts to have a backup to your backup. Note that SMS verification codes can’t be used to reset your password if two-factor is on. You can also print out recovery codes that you can enter in the event you lose your phone. You can also add your phone number for SMS verification as a backup. It also gives you other management options like changing your authenticator app if you change it in the future. Then you will be brought back to the two-factor authentication section. Now you will be brought back to a login page where you need to re-enter your Facebook account password. Paste in the App ID and App Secret values that you obtained previously. Select Facebook in the identity provider dropdown. Select Authentication in the menu on the left. Then type in the confirmation code you see on your authenticator app and click Continue.Ĭongratulations! You now have 2FA enabled for your Facebook account. Add Facebook information to your application Sign in to the Azure portal and navigate to your app. Launch the authenticator app on your phone and point it at the QR code. Steps to receive a code for two-factor authentication: Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon. Pointing your phone at the QR code is just easier. Or you can enter the displayed code into your authentication app. You will then be given a QR code to scan using the authentication app on your phone. Click on the Use Authentication App button. While using SMS is better than nothing at all, it isn’t as secure as using an authentication app (plus you don’t have to give Facebook your phone number). One (and most recommended) is by using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo Mobile. Next, you will be presented with two different ways to authenticate your account. Scroll down the list on the right-hand side down to the “Two-Factor Authentication” section and click the Edit button next to “Use two-factor authentication.” Now from the Settings page click Security and Login from the panel on the left. Then click the options arrow in the upper-right corner of the screen. With 2-Step Verification, signing into your account will require both your password and a verification code that you can generate with this app. To get started, log in to your Facebook account via a browser on your computer. Google Authenticator works with 2-Step Verification for your Google Account to provide an additional layer of security when signing in. To remove an account from Google Authenticator, tap and hold on it, then press the Trash Button (top right). It's always a good idea to check that the login you've swapped is working before moving on to the next one. In Authy, tap Add Account and then Scan QR Code. Click Set Up, and you'll eventually be shown a QR code, which you can scan using the Authy app. These days, Google prefers to use a prompt on your phone as the 2FA confirmation, but you'll find an authenticator app option further down the settings screen once 2FA is back in place. You'll be taken through the process of setting up 2FA on your account. With a Google account, for example, you need to open your account page on the web, select Security and 2-Step Verification, click Turn Off, confirm your choice, click 2-Step Verification again, and then click Get Started.
